Shigandang

Introduction

There are various sayings about the origin of Shigandang. Some said it is a stone while others called him Gandang with last name Shi but most people said Shigandang had been the ancient Chinese military strategist Jiang Ziya. It is said that when Jiang Ziya was empowering his subordinates to deities, he, unexpectedly, muddled his mind and announced himself "Shigandang", thus he has become the Mount Tai Shigandang.

It’s been a long history that people build a  tablet of stone to dispel evils and ghosts. According to legend, Shigangdang was once a governor of Mount Tai area and his  favorable governance brought him the title of Chief General of King Wen of Zhou. People believe that Shigandang has the power of dispelling evils and ghosts thus built  a tablet of stone in front of the house and  carve  a name "Shigandang" on it.
